Eindelijk weer eens een update

Het heeft lang geduurd sinds de vorige keer dat ik wat schreef in mijn blog.
Eind vorig jaar waren er problemen in de familie, die nu zijn opgelost. Sindsdien ben ik naar veel beurzen geweest, o.a. Aiguille en Fete Pro in Parijs, een Franse vakbeurs, daarna de Handwerkbeurs in Zwolle en als laatste de Handarbeit & Hobby in Keulen.


It has been a long time since I wrote something in my blog. Last year we ended with some problems in the family which are now solved. Since then we have been to a number of shows, like Aiguille en Fete Pro in Paris, which is a French tradeshow, the Handwerkbeurs in Zwolle and finally the Handarbeit & Hobby Show in Cologne Germany.

Door deze beurzen had ik al minder tijd dan gewoonlijk om iets op te schrijven. Want ja, je moet van alles klaarmaken voor de beurzen, patronen bij elkaar zoeken, garens uitzoeken, bestellingen versturen etc.
Eind van deze maand zijn de beurzen dit seizoen weer voorbij. In september gaat het weer beginnen.

Because of all these shows I did not have much time to write in my blog. Because for a show you have to prepare a lot, gathering charts, threads and afterwards sending out orders. At the end of this month all major shows for this season are over. In September it will all start again.

Ik dacht dan ook dat ik tijd zou krijgen om weer wat te gaan ontwerpen, te borduren etc. Maar er kwam een kink in de kabel. Eind februari had ik het 2-jaarlijkse bevolkingsonderzoek naar borstkanker.
En ja hoor, totaal onverwacht, bleek ik toch 2 tumoren te hebben en dus borstkanker.
Inmiddels is afgelopen week de borstoperatie (amputatie) geweest. Ik ben weer thuis aan het opknappen.
We hebben nog geen uitslag gehad of er eventuele uitzaaiingen zijn en of er nog een nabehandeling
nodig is. Dat is dus nog een spannende tijd die we te gaan hebben.
Ondertussen wordt ik heel erg gesteund door alle leden van het borduurprikbord. Elke dag stromen er
kaarten binnen van mensen die ons veel sterkte wensen en natuurlijk het allerbeste.

I thought I would get more time to design and stitch during the summer. But something happened which prevented this. Here in Holland we have a 2-yearly check-up for breastcancer, and at the end of February it was my turn. Totally unexpected I was told I had 2 tumors in my breast, so breastcancer. After a lot of examinations I had breastsurgery (breastamputation) last week. I am now at home recovering again. We still have not heard the results and if there are any metastasis, and if so, if I need further treatment. This will mean an axious time for the next couple of weeks. At the moment I get a lot of support of a Dutch group from the Borduren pagina. Every day cards arrive with all the best wishes from a lot of people, some of whom you have never met.

Omdat ik op dit moment nog weinig kan doen, ben ik mijn boeken maar eens gaan doorkijken. (Ik had er nogal wat gekocht de laatste maanden). Natuurlijk zijn dit vrijwel allemaal handwerkboeken.
Momenteel bekijk ik Points associes et autres points complices du point de croix. Een heel mooi boek, in het Frans,dat begint met een werkboek met allerlei afwerkingsideeen. Daarna een werkboek met allemaal verschillende steken, met daarbij foto's hoe bepaalde steken gedaan moeten worden. Dit boek doorkijkend krijg je algauw weer allerlei ideeen.


As I can't do much at the moment I decided to have a look at my books (I did buy a number of them lately). Ofcourse most of them are stitching books.
At the moment I am looking at Points associes et autres points complices due point de croix. This is a very nice book in French, that starts with a part about all different ideas for finishing. After that a part with all the different stitches, often with pictures on how to make a special stitch. Looking through this book you will get lots of ideas!!!

Vroeger werd er op school geleerd hoe je een merklapje kon borduren met speciale steken. Het zogenaamde schoolmerklapje, vaak uitgevoerd in rood. Dit boek geeft je de mogelijkheden om diverse lappen te maken, maar dan met speciale steken. Het geeft je ook compositievoorbeelden.

In the past you learned at school how to stich a sampler with special stitches. This was the so called schoolsampler, often made in red. This book will give you the possibilities to make several samplers yourselves,but then with special stitches. It gives you composite examples for these different samplers.
